Frame Bags: Meet the Ocelot

Frame Bags: Meet the Ocelot

The pile of frame templates in the workshop was getting out of hand. Something had to be done with them. What looked like a heap of random bits of triangular cardboard, were in fact a vast wealth of information in relation to the geometry of every frame we've ever made a frame bag for.So, each template was graded according to size and then traced onto a large sheet of paper. Very quickly we began to see "lines of best fit" form around the outline of each frame. After a series of prototypes and adjustments to the bag profile, the Ocelot...

Review: Singletrack Magazine test Mountain Lion & Tiger

Review: Singletrack Magazine test Mountain Lion & Tiger

We were pleased to see our first full Wildcat Gear Review in Singletrack Issue 82 recently. Whilst we've had some very positive feedback on our gear direct from customers, the acid test is to send it off to a magazine for their scrutiny. The Wildcat Gear Review Bikes are good at covering large distances with relative ease. They let us cover dozens of miles in a day, returning in time to put our feet up on the sofa with a well earned tea/beer/G&T and settle down to Strictly Come Sew Off, Get Me Out of Here. But, what if we want...

Highland Trail Race - A Gear Review

Highland Trail Race - A Gear Review

As you may have read on websites elsewhere, this year was the inaugural Highland Trail Race - a 440 mile ITT in a style similar to that of the great US races such as Tour Divide and Colorado Trail Race. No entry fee, no prize and definitely no support. You're on your own (albeit with a bunch of like-minded lunatics). After a couple of late night nights watching the Trackleader's race tracking page, I finally saw Ian (my other half) come home in just over three and half days, to finish in second place behind Aidan Harding (also Wildcat Gear...

Bespoked - Best Touring Bicycle

Bespoked - Best Touring Bicycle

Nic from Look Mum No Hands got in touch about us making a Leopard frame bag for a new frame that Ryan at Oak Cycles was building for her. And, by the way... I need it for Bespoked next month... Some basic details were discussed, such as colour, number of compartments, overall size and width of the bag and so on. Besides all the usual options, this one would be a little different. Nic wanted it to be bolted to the frame along the underside of the top tube, and to the bottle cage bosses on the down tube. After...

Bespoked Bristol 2013

Bespoked Bristol 2013

We're quite excited to be heading off to the Bespoked Bristol Handmade Bike Show next weekend (13 April). Whilst we're not exhibiting ourselves, we've been working over the last few months to kit out three different frame builders with gear for the show. The first of these is DMO Frameworks, which is the creation of Olly Webb. Olly will be exhibiting in the New Builders section, where he'll have on display his first bike, the DMO Element. Satisfying his desire for bikepacking, Olly has worked some really nice features into the frame and we're really looking forward to seeing it in...
